In addition to the advantages of being able to express your emotions in a well-known
language, doing your analysis in the mother tongue is all about psychoanalytic work. The
first language brings all the colorful affective of the first relations of childhood and
everything that accompanies them: tenderness, affection, the amazing discovery of the
world, the most primitive memories, the decisive moments of the formation of identity, the
first loves.
Of course, an analysis can be performed in any language known to the duo, but the mother
tongue brings this differentiated color. Perhaps it was because I realized the importance of
the affection present in the language of origin that I was so attracted to learning other
languages.
Which, metaphorically speaking, represents very well the function of a
psychoanalyst: learning the language of the unconscious of his analyzing. My second
language is French (which I speak daily as well) and my third is English (which I understand
and read well, and speak with a certain fluency and accent).
